One of our users has a laptop running "Windows on ARM". Until a few days ago he was able to run A:M and it worked fine but now it crashes upon loading a PRJ. Steffen says this is due to the "OpenCL™, OpenGL® and Vulkan® Compatibility Pack" In Windows Settings one can choose to "uninstall" that pack but it reappears upon reboot. Does anyone know a solution?

Thanks, Rob, for all your help. Everything so far seems to be working. Thanks for the live video and for fixing my models—I applied what you showed me, and so far, so good. I’m actually curious—does anyone know how to create a star sphere for space scenes? I found these in the extra data bonus files. Could anyone show me or direct me to a tutorial? Great! Well.., to answer my question I tried to acomplish last minute.😐 I'm trying out an avii file on a screen background in a choreography. The funny thing happens that a 54 sec avi file (not compressed) has a strange behaviour in the 24 sec animation. On this site is a part called "Brains & Parker on the way to Penelope" that explains the subject. The screen animation stops as soon as the car stops. I could easily make a "still" from the last good frame, but it is a bit silly for a 54 sec file. https://mad-red.com/animationmaster/ With the avi file I get a missing plugin error "radiance error".

At Live Answer Time today we tried to import an OBJ that had more than one bitmap texture but only got a grey model. UPDATE: I believe @Fuchur 's comment below is correct, the OBJ isn't really made to use any bitmaps. It seems the bitmaps provided were only for the other formats the model was offered in like FBX. UPDATE II: @Madfox and @Ganthofer have had some success in modifying the files to make the OBJ apply the PNG decals. See below. Can anyone open this OBJ... either as a "Prop" or into a model... and get the textures to show? OBJ: 70-well_obj.zip PNGs: 25-textures.zip It should look something like this...

Can anyone make the MirrorBone plugin get an appropriate result in this sample case? v19.5dhanslowres5-1fxxxx-53g SimpleCase CFAd.prj In "LowResModel": -The character mesh was Copy Flip Attached from the right half so it should be perfectly symmetrical. -Where there are already bones on the left side, I believe them to be proper mirrors of the right-side bones. -All the CPs on the character's right side are assigned to bones. The CPs on his left side are not yet assigned . MirrorBone is invoked by selecting the "body" bone, then RMB>Plugins>Wizards>MirrorBone... MirrorBone should create any missing bon…

HEY HEY HEY!!!! everyone, I’m working on my Krystal character in A:M and I really need some help bringing her to life with actual animated staff actions. I’m looking for someone who can help create a few cool moves, such as: Staff swings and strikes A spinning sweep or twirl A kick-swing combo Blocking/defensive staff actions I’d be super grateful if anyone here could make a few action files or short examples that I can plug into my project. Even just a couple of polished moves would help me a lot and give me a base to build from. Pizza Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Krystal .zip 4b…

I've been messing about with a 'watchfolder' script (in python) that monitors a directory and when it finds a new sequence of PNG images it converts the sequence to MP4 video and moves the PNG sequence to a datetime stamped directory inside a 'processed' directory. There are a number of things that are still rough about the program. Firstly, the majority of people will not install python, set it up, run python programs etc. right? Correct. So, I compiled it into an executable .exe file. That seems to work pretty well. The python script has a watchfolder.ini file where users can quickly adjust settings. If no .ini file is found def…

Here is another modern render of one of my old Animation Showdown animations. I added a school gymnasium set and rendered with radiosity. A birdseye view of the chor looks like this. The set is a completely enclosed box with two kleig lights in the ceiling... A conventional render with those two lights gets this... That is very severe. If I were going to use conventional lighting I would need add a number of fill lights in strategic places. Here is a radiosity render. The shadow areas are no longer pitch black and there is visible detail even where the lights do not directly shine. Overall, …

The "tongue sandwich" is a classic cartoon gag but I had never seen a real tongue sandwich until I went to New York City and my New York City friend Dean took me to the world famous 2nd Ave Deli where I ordered... the tongue sandwich! For Dean's recent birthday I made this remembrance of the occasion... It was good but it was probably my first and last tongue sandwich. I looked up the current price of a tongue sandwich at the 2nd Ave Deli... $27.95! Oy!

Look at this fabulously flexible result of rigging a face with the Transfer_AW plugin. Steve @Shelton modeled this great character (right) and then we pulled out a lo-res version (left) with just enough splines to cover the essential landmarks of the face. We rigged and CP-weighted that with some minimal bones for the jaw and lip corners and then used Transfer_AW to interpolate that lo-res rig to the hi-res mesh. It would need some further fine-tuning but this is a huge time saver for rigging a face. TAW Hans.mp4

Hello Hashers- I was playing with the latest version of AM 19.5 E and I loaded a simple 10 frame avi into an action window to test whether or not I could advance the video one frame at a time...and it didn't work at all. I tried the same procedure in v19.0 and it worked fine. Has anyone else had trouble loading an avi video into v19.5E and been thwarted? Attached is a bare Project file and the simple 10 frame video I was trying to use. Thanks for any insights! Tom MovieTest.avi RotoTest.prj

I feel a bit like I've just woke up in an alternate universe. This has been a thing for a few years now and I'm just now discovering it. (Probably because this is the first time I've used Powerpoint and Word in years) Here's what surely must be Euisung Lee's Running T-Rex of old school A:M fame... obviously repainted... but... ...imported into Powerpoint as an animated model that can be turned around, duplicated and scaled... ...and exported as an animated gif with transparency or an MP4 video. I was lathing a shape and thought I could easily turn it into a giraffe's head... A few hours later this dragon thingy appeared: The motion blur... a bit thick no? I thought I'd be lazy and make the eyelids be patch images that turn on/off. That was probably more work than it should have been if I would have just made actual eyelids. It kinda worked though. Had fun with a few things that won't be particularly apparent such as having the color of the horns change so that the lightest/grayest horn is always in the back (presumably aiding in giving a sense of depth). This guy technically has no mouth although he does have a jaw bone. He real…

The MuhHair and Kajiya-Kay plugin shaders work to make Particle Hair look better by re-shaping the Diffuse and Specular response of their surfaces. Kajiya-Kay is the easier one since it has no parameters of its own, it's just ON or not. However, unlike MuhHair, that lets you fine-tune the placement of highlights on the hair, Kajiya-Kay requires you to carefully place your specular light source... as you would in real life lighting. Here is hair with no extra shader and Specular Intensity 0 in the surface properties. Same hair, but with Specular Intensity greater than 0. The renderer seems to regard the hair as one simple mass and paints the spe…

@fraizer writes... -I recall the chor problem (fixed in a later version I recall) but it's exceedingly rare that I ever save work as a chor. I always work with a PRJ that has everything embedded. -I'd have to see the path circumstances to guess at the path problem. -If you are on an annual subscription your license should allow you to also install/run v19.0 which still has a Mac version. Try that and see if the .pre setting are more comprehensive. We have Live Answer Time at Noon CDT tomorrow if you would like to look at this in real time.

I want to add some information related to Netrenders Event Commands that allow us to run batch files and programs after a job completion (or frame completion). This process can allow use of other programs to post process output from Animation:Master's Netrender and help us understand how we can do the same basic process without Netrender as well. There are three basic components of this process: 1. Set up the Event Command in Netrender 2. (Optionally) structure a (textual) batch file to take arguments from Netrender and pass them on to other programs 3. Run the desired programs and processes This does assume a basic understanding of r…
