Hash, Inc.

Animation Master no longer owns hash.com. We are not going away. Just moving to animationmaster.com, The forums is moved. I do not know when the hash.com will go away but probably in the next few days.

My check list:

  • forums
    • I still need to work on the banner. But since we have to move to 5.0 soon i may skip it until I have time to fully update the forums software to 5.0
  • FAQ
    • I need to write a bit of code to fix the links but it's there
  • Store
  • reports
    • Will load slow since the database is on the old server, but working on moving the database to the new server
  • Other things I'm forgetting now
  • hash.com main page
    • I need to send a email about this

Because of the type of move this, most things will get a subdomain since I can not do this in one day/move

Everything that links to hash.com will go away and I do not think I will be able to keep redirects in place, so update your book marks.

For now our emails will stay but will soon be moving to animationmaster.com

I'm going to email you Monday(didn't want to bug you on the weekend) about the steps needed to move the main site to https://www.animationmaster.com most things seam to be working but, I do not have the database installed, and do not know the log in

Posted

I small note, I'm not getting email from the forums at this time because the new host is using internal mail setting and I bought the new host under Hash.com so when the email is sent, the mail server returns user not found. I'm working it but it's not high on my list right now

Posted

The forums send email to @hash.com addresses is fixed.

I see it gets flagged as spam at lot the forums comes from forums@animationmaster.com

Posted

Please update your book marks. The loss of hash.com is coming in the next few days. Right now as I understand it we will get @hash.com emails for some time. But when the server stuff is done all emails will be moving to @animationmaster.com for email.

Jason,

Rodney and I made a copy of your "NewNew" theme, titled "NewNew2.0" and added the banner code to it. It seems to be functional. Does it need anything else to be the default?

The code links to hash.com and will end when we lose hash.com. At this time this has not happened but I keep hearing tomorrow/soon almost every day. I can change the code this weekend, I'm going to get a tone of work done this weekend. To make up for camping with out internet last weekend.

AS far as i can see, the HTML for the Theme doesn't have any "hash" or "hash.com" in it.

For instance your signature does have hash.com links in them. ;)

And some of the links in the upper menu at "more" are hash.com based.

But that isn't defined in the Theme. The content of my signature (which just applies to my posts) is defined in my user settings which must be a separate document from the Theme (which applies to everyone).

Those must be external to the Theme definition also. If i download the XML for Jason's "NewNew" Theme, none of the text of those menus nor the links they represent are contained in the Theme code.

I presume some other HTML document creates those menus and is calling up the Theme to decide what the colors will be.

I think i fixed some of the coding, but I will have to test it. I have not worked in html in some time so I need to make sure my coding it right. But I'm going to pull an all nighter Saturday and work through some of the major things going on. Including the banner and hard coded hash.com links.

I never thought we(Hash, Inc.) would not have hash.com so a lot of things are hard coded to that. I'm working hard to make all links work with out a URL

Sure, I updated my signature too and just wanted to tell you that there are some links still in there too for your signature.
They are saved in the database of the forum very, very likely... might have to do with the "more..." links too...

I do not have access to the forum administration area (could check if I can figure it in the database of cause, but I am pretty sure there is an interface for that too)

Let me know if there isn't one and I'll see if I can do something about it.

If you use the relative positioning like that "/uploads/monthly/..." you will not be able to put it into a subfolder later on.
Might be fine, but be aware of this. If you go with "uploads/monthly..." (no leading slash) or "./uploads/monthly..." you can avoid that "problem" and it really would be a relative link based on the current document (for instance index.php or whatever it is because it is rewritten).

@Fuchur

My tutorials page has many explicit "hash.com" links.

If i did a general search and replace with "animationmaster.com" that should fix them, right?

That will work, but I would replace

https://www.hash.com/forums/ with https://forums.animationmaster.com/
and
https://www.hash.com/ with https://www.animationmaster.com/

Once everything is complete with the domain migration, I recommend removing (or updating if still available) the dead links from the third-party software page (https://www.animationmaster.com/third-party-software-35-en) since most of them are inaccessible (at the time of writing this). Specifically with the following currently listed:

This weekend!

Starting 10/10/2025 at about 7:00pm PST until about some time late Sunday 10/12/2025 I will be working like a made man to get a lot done. This can mean small to large outages of any or the services listed below. This is also a tentative order, and depending on how the Squirrel is looking at me may change haha!

Here is the list:

  1. Post the new release
  2. Move the forums to the new node(this node will handle the higher loads we need)
    1. There is a problem with password reset I'm working on
  3. Move the main page to the new server
    1. The database is still on the old server but I need to sleep
      1. Took longer than I planned debugging a SPACE haha
  4. Move the reports database to it's new server.
    1. Loading slow but working
  5. Update and move the store
    1. I fought the store and the store won, it's still on the old sever.
  6. Move the FAQ to the new node
    1. I'm using the word node for move inside the new hosting company and server for moves from the current server we lease.
  7. update and move the wiki
  8. After all that get drunk and fight a Squirrel
  9. Go to sleep and Get ready for my job on Monday.

I can open faq.animationmaster.com now and if I search for "transfer" I can get the page that explains how to transfer a license, but... the download for the "get_host" app doesn't work.

Regarding step 8, I approve of the drinking but not the squirrel fighting.   They look like an easy fight, but they are vicious.

Thanks for all your hard work and please don't fight squirrels.

This weekend and squirrel won. I did not get everything done and some of the things like the store are not going well.

Since I have not had time to update things we use in a long time, they are way behind.

I think the next step is build a VM so I can go step by step the new server has versions for software we can just jump to.

So I will build a VM, install php#, update, install php# update, move to the new server at php8.1

@Jason Simonds

I notice that if i RMB on an image to get an image link in a recent post like this..

https://forums.animationmaster.com/topic/54665-open-an-obj-with-decals-solved-maybe/#findComment-435707

... It still creates a "hash.com" link...

https://www.hash.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2025_10/image.png.1dca4d453c1e0b94a6ee57fc963e4b3e.png

The link still works but I presume it will not work someday.

I know that reports is slow, and I'm working on a fix for that.

Whats going on right now is the database is really large, and I need to talk to our new host about importing it.

Reports is on the new server but the database is on the old server.

When I took over Animation Master server I went from windows to Linux. When I took over the uploaded data was store as files, but the files had the full path

'e:\http\reports\uploads\0001074-biastrouble3.mov'

I did some hacky links to get the those to work. I saw that the the config had the ability to store the files in the database and I used that. When I moved server it was only a few config changes to import the file but now that we are using a shared host I do not have access to the config anymore. When i get a bit more down the road on what needs to be done, I'm going to talk to our host about importing the file

A small step forward. I'm having a bit of trouble with haproxy right now, but I made a move forward so I can start moving sites to the a test VM server so I can make step by step update with out risk of major outages.

I need to set it up to forward to a 2nd host if match not found but I can not get that working today.

I need to get rid of the paypal banner and I know that serial numbers are not showing on the accounts page let me know if anything else does not work.

I'm done for the night/weekend it took about 30 hours to get this working, and I was not able to move the the latest version but this is a major update.
