LucasGabrielzip Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago hi, ive been a 3d modeler for 4 years using anim8or without any replacement considering that blender didnt seem well for me, i got exposed to this software because of that msdos game that recently has been made and as much as i liked the 3d visuals, i wanted to look and know how it was done until i saw the description saying that the game's 3d graphics were made with hash's animation master, ive been wanting to know how i could make a 3d character and scenes in a short, not long wasting explanation, ive been also wondering, how do i see a different view instead of wireframe? i dont want to keep rendering just to see how it looks. any help is appreciated, if anyone's interested in seeing my anim8or work, please tell me and i will try to post them Quote
LucasGabrielzip Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago forgot to say that i only did model characters by using basic primitive shapes and editing them. so if its not possible to make/rig characters with primitive shapes then i give up. Quote

Hi Lucas, You can select the various real-time display modes with the number keys at the top of the keyboard 0 Shaded wireframe 9 Shaded 8 wireframe 7 "default" (objects take on the "Object Render mode" chosen for them in the Project Work Space) Quote

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted 9 hours ago Hash Fellow Posted 9 hours ago As far as modeling... Have you done the exercises in "The Art of Animation:Master"? nos. 8, 9, 10 and 11 are fundamental to understanding how to model with splines. 11.5 is about making a face but I don't like that one since it is over complicated for new users and IMO uses too many splines for the shape it is making. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted 7 hours ago Hash Fellow Posted 7 hours ago Here is a WIP thread in which i show many stages of building a simple-spline head from scratch... https://forums.animationmaster.com/topic/48269-paint-fall-image-contest-wips/#findComment-414056 Have you downloaded the "extended data set"? That has many sample characters in it. After you become familiar with how spline modeling works it is very instructive to examine other modelers' splining to learn how common objects are put together. Quote

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted 4 hours ago Hash Fellow Posted 4 hours ago If you're trying to make models in A:M by putting primitives together... you're doing it wrong. Insisting on doing it the wrong way won't make the wrong way work. The giraffe tut in TaoA:M teaches essential techniques in modeling character bodies. Quote

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted 2 hours ago Hash Fellow Posted 2 hours ago A:M is all-spline modeling. The ways of polygon modeling are the worst way to use A:M. If you don't want to do the things that work best in A:M there isn't much i can do for you. Quote
Ganthofer Posted 53 minutes ago Posted 53 minutes ago HI Lucas, welcome to the Forum and AnimationMaster. With regards to the following and my interpretation/understanding of your question and Robert's answer: 8 hours ago, LucasGabrielzip said: how could i set 9 as the default one whenever a window is opened or is it just not possible 8 hours ago, robcat2075 said: Not possible. Every window remembers its own setting and i believe the initial default is wireframe In the Menu Tools > Options, there are (among other tabs) a Modeling, Action and Choreography tab. Each has a View Mode selection (Default, Wireframe, Shaded, Shaded/Wireframe). And Default is the default at installation as far as I have experienced. This will set the viewing mode on any new window (e.g. Modeling, Action, Choreography) that is opened. So, you can change the Options setting and close/reopen the window (e.g. Modeling) and it will then be in the View Mode set in the Options > Modeling tab. The windows will retain their viewing mode when you save/close a project and open it again/later, provided you did not Close the individual windows (e.g. Modeling, Action, Choreography). This holds true for multiple widows of the same type (e.g. Modeling, Action, Choreography), even multiple windows of the same Model (e.g. Model1 [Front], Model1 [Top], etc...) You can also as Robert pointed out, change the View Mode of the active window using the keyboard (7, 8, 9, 0), however, be aware these are not the number keys on the Numeric keypad (if you have one), but the number keys at the top of the main alpha numeric keyboard. And of course, the View Mode for the selected/active window can be set/changed from the toolbar icons Sorry for the verbosity, it got a little bit long, but wanted to try and cover all the possibilities (hopefully) 😁 Quote
