I live in Karlsruhe, Germany and studied Media Engineering at the UAS in Offenburg. Today I am working for a middle-size fullservice media-agency in the web, animation and video-department.
I like to do all kinds of artwork and creative things in general. I write, paint, make music and I like to animate and model (in A:M and with physical materials). But I although like to develope in PHP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML and sometimes in Java and ActionScript.
I am using A:M since version 8.0(2000), and keept it up to date each year. So I am now using A:M 18. As you can see I am quite happy with A:M. -

In the modelling window there should be a button at the right. There is no shortcut key by default, but if you want to set one you can do that by going to Tools > Customize > Keyboard: Best regards *Fuchur*

Hey everybody. the advent time is often pretty stressful. To make it a little funny from time to time, a little advent calendar. Each day a new door will be opened till 24th of December showing a small funny, heartful or just nice video clip to bring you a little joy in this pre christmas time. And if you wonder: Yes, the image is of cause done in Animation:Master. I wish you a beautiful pre christmas time and please remember to check in each day to open the new door of the day: https://advent.targomed.de/adventskalender.php?lan=en Best regards *Fuchur*

MDL exporter for Blender
Fuchur replied to nemyax's topic in 3rd Party Programs, Utilities and Products
Hi guys, what would be the most current version of Blender the plugin works with at the moment? Here are the legacy blender releases to be downloaded and I tried a few, but I do not get the right combination as it seems. (I want to convert an FBX file to MDL and this is likely one of the best ways to do it) Ok, found the right combination: - Blender3.0 - Newest version from this threads entry post. A:M isn't a pocket / moveable software. It saves data to the windows registery and the path/strings in there are going to be the same per version. (meaning 19.5, 19.0, 18.0, etc. not 19.5 e, f, f1, etc.) This is pretty normal behaviour for most windows software which is not "moveable" (most of them) It is not an "issue" but by design like this. As far as I can see there is no mentioning of any texture files neighter in the MTL nor in the OBJ. (opened it in a text editor to search for it) Not sure about what this means, but I think there should be some filenames or pathes, right? Best regards *Fuchur*

Pseudo code, which is somewhere between PHP and JavaScript syntax and has a couple of assumptions of what kind of objects / methods / functions are available in the A:M code base, but this should more or less do it: function get_bordering_cps(model, selection){ var cp_ids = new Array(); var border_cp_ids = new Array(); var patch_ids = new Array(); var cur_patch_cp_ids = new Array(); var cur_cp_id = -1; var cur_patch_id = -1; var cur_patch = new Object(); cp_ids = selection.getCPs(); patch_ids = model.getPatchIds(); var i = 0; var j = 0; var k = 0; while(i < cp_ids.length){ cur_cp_id = cp_ids[i]; j = 0; while(j < patch_ids.length){ cur_patch_id = patch_ids[j]; cur_patch = model.getPatchFromId(cur_patch_id); cur_patch_cp_ids = cur_patch.getCPs(); k = 0; while(k < cur_patch_cp_ids.length){ if(in_array(cur_patch_cp_ids[k], cp_ids)){ if(!in_array(cur_patch_cp_ids[k], border_cp_ids)){ border_cp_ids[border_cp_ids.length] = cur_patch_cp_ids[k]; } } k++; } j++; } i++; } return border_cp_ids; } It is pretty simplified, but hopefully should illustrator what I am talking about. In short: - CP1 (red) is part of the initial selection, which contains of CP1-4. - Now search for patches, which contain CP1. You come to Patch 1, Patch 2, 8 and Patch 9 in this case. Now select the CPs of those additional patches and you have the bordering CPs. (bright blue) - Do not reselect the once you already know (dashed lines) - Repeat the same with all CP 3-4. Not sure if it always works, but I cannot think right now of an occation where it wouldn't. Best regards *Fuchur*

Try to use the Patch-Select tool to find out. It seems to be pretty possible if you ask me if that one works as it does. Anyway this is not my feature or feature request... I am just explaining what we are talking about here. If I would try to solve the problem by code, I would search for patches which have selected CPs in them which patches are not yet in my selection. It might already work like that. Or if the patch select tool's code can be used in a better way, simulate a click of the patch tool facing 1px / (a small amount) outside of the current border of a patch. I think the first approach is much simpler. Best regards *Fuchur*

For me it would be this: 1.) Select the purple group of CPs in the middle. 2.) Press Invert button. 3.) This will select the blue once. With added border CPs I would say it should select the CPs necessary to get rid of the grey ring, meaning all of it should be blue but the purple one. Best regards *Fuchur*

Had to first give it a shortcut (was not assigned first). It does something different, but likely not what it should. (see Screenshots) So there is some kind of border now (four additional CPs around that, but I would have thought only 4 in the middle should now not be selected) Best regards *Fuchur*

Hey Jason,
when you are finished with the other work (an the hang over is gone ;)), it would be great to get a FTP account for the new server again. I think my current one only works for the old server.
Best regards

This should be done already. Best regards *Fuchur*
