  1. OK...Here is a mystery! I've got the feathery hair tweaked the way I want it to look--in progressive render mode, but it looks all black in final mode!?? Why is it so different? what do I need to do to change it? has anyone else seen this?
  2. The CP weights are amazing! eliminates the need for a lot of fan bones, or smartskin. I think smartskin is awsome too. but this crtainly does the bulk of the work, leaving smartskin for minor tweaks.

  4. I was having trouble tweaking the body fur to have the look I wanted, so I may use the Simbiont "Plush" material on the body instead of fur...

  7. is that with multi-pass? or just A-buffer? I would think that you would get a good blur with multipass, but I haven't done anything with toon yet.
  8. New WIP. I finished rigging yesterday, I used the Hash2001 rig and the new CP Weight controls. I am totally blown-away by how easy the CP Weights are to set up! There is no smartskin or tweaking in the sholders and hips, the CP weights took care of it all! I do use an intermediate bone for the biceps and thigh. Parented to the shoulder and the pelvis, the intermediate is in the same location as the biceps and thigh and has an orient-like constraint--STORE ROLL OFF. The intermediate gets the controlpoints at the joint and that keeps them from getting twisted when the arm or leg twists.
  9. You can get custom printed directors chair panels, for not too much. I did have one of those in my studio, but I'm a little too heavy for it and broke the arm rest!

  11. It sounds like you need to set more keyframes. At the halfway point, where the position of the arms is wrong: adjust the position, making a new keyframe so that the software can interpolate the correct motion. If that isn't what you are asking, then I am not understanding the question. Don't direct your questions to me specifically. I am no more qualified to answer than anyone else. I do not work for Hash. I only answer what I can, when I have the time. You don't need to email me that you have posted a question. the forum automatically notifies anyone that is subscibed to a thread that there are new replies. If I don't answer you, then I don't have an answer. Don't keep emailing me to answer you!
  12. That rig is not available for download. The tutorial applies to any rig--just use orient like constraints on the control bones of whatever rig you are using. Unless you have motion capture files of Aikido techniques, or the expensive equipment to record them, you aren't going to be able to use that tutorial for this project.
  13. Here is a company that might be able to help you record some motion capture: http://www.mantismotion.com/ My tutorial is about using .bvh files that are already captured. If you have to record from scratch, it is going to cost a lot... You maybe should purchase Jeff Lew's character animation DVD. He gives an example of rotoscope animation using a video of himself doing a martial arts move. That is probably a better approach for your Aikido animations.

  15. " 2 Cents" is an expression in English for giving an opinion. Means that my opinion is prabably worth two cents or $.02 I didn't realize that you were not writing in your native language, so I apologize for the confusion.
  16. I just mean that I understand the tradition of bowing towards the photo of O'Sensei, but it is so small in the animation that it isn't clear. Simply by making it oversized would make it more illustrative. That's just my 2cents By details in the dojo, I just mean that you have essentially one set for dozens of animations. By making it more interesting to look at you will keep the viewers attention... Because you are going to re-use this same set over and over, you can afford to spend the time on it. By the way, the "kotegashi" movie looks great!!!!

  18. Nice Aikidoka model! I would enlarge the portrait of O'Sensei, to exagerate the kamiza area, and make the bowing etiquette clearer. To add a little life to the static animation of the seiza sitting position, I would make a "breathing" action for the character. Since you will be doing all of these animations in one dojo model, you can afford to really dress it up with little details, and light it well. That will help make the demonstrations easy on the eyes I look forward to seeing some complex throws and ukemi !

  20. If you have a wheel mouse: scrolling it zooms in and out hold it down and drag to pan hold it down+shift to turn the view Use the numberpad to switch views. Starting in the center with 5, as though the sides of a cube had been unfolded: 5-top 2-front 8-back 6-right 4-left 0-bottom 7-birdseye view (the last view you had when using the turn tool) 1-camera views (keep tapping it to cycle through all of the cameras in your choreography) 3-light view. (tap it to cycle through the other light views) When looking throug the camera: holding down shift while using the hand/pan tool[M]will dolly forward and backward Hold down control while using the hand[M] will shift the camera sideways and up and down. Holding shift with the zoom[Z] tool will adjust your focal length. Holding shift using the Turn tool[T] will aim the camera. Holding control while using the Turn [T] tool will tilt the camera.

  23. So are you of the camp that believes that the dinosaurs just didn't make it onto the Ark? Or are you of the camp that believes that the Earth was create 6000 years ago dinosaur bones and all, the bones being put there to confound the ungodly?
