Thanx for the replies Hashers nice to see I can still generate a bit of interest in me project Distress Yes, I see what you mean about the jaw moving, I will animate the jaw in the Lipsync poses. I knew they where always a bit unpolished but its having the time to do all the animating and I am trying to get the whole flick out the door this year. andyg Is that Mr Andy Gibbons? Hi m8 I remember you from years ago when I first started using AM in 2000, how are you doing? martin Glad you think I am getting better, many have said the same but I don't think I am quite where I would like to be - yet. That said would I be up to TWO standard? I am very tempted to get involved but realize I would have to shelve me own BB project. I feel I would learn a lot (who knows I might teach a bit) from others.

No it's not finished but I was itching to show another tiny section of my larger flick. Yes, there is lip syncing but no voices yet... Go on tell me what you think! Lallabys

OMG! I have a reply!!! I was starting to think people didn't read my threads... It will be nice to see you again Paul

It's been a while… Is anyone in the London area up for a Hash Bash? I was thinking of talking my company into letting me use the office for a meeting, if they let me would anyone be interested?

Modeling and Rigging...plz respond
gazzamataz replied to jairo's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
jairo Not only are you new to Animation Master but 3D by the sounds of it - and you have a lot to learn in both First off you cannot import a 2D character into any 3D program (uness someone knows otherwise) and expect to start animating it. If you already have a 2D caracter then I am affraid that you will have to model it first then rig it. The good thing is though that AM will make the modelling and rigging reasonably easy depending on your model. Even easier is if you use one of the pre-rigged models that comes with AM and then just drop an action on it and you will have an instance animated character If you already have AM then go through all the tutorials in the 'Art of Animation Master' book that comes with it. You will find a tutorial in there already that allows you to add pre-made characters to a stage and make them dance. Hope this gets you started OK. -
largento Glad you liked my flick but I fear I miss-worded my comments on rendering on my iMac. The Mac renders fine it's just slower. What I did to speed my rendering up was to render a few frames on my iMac and merge them with those rendered on my PC. I was hoping that it would be A-OK but I noticed an anomally. If you look closely at the spots on the alien as he walks away from the spaceship they change… That's why I won't be using my Mac and my PC to render the same scenes. However, I am now very tempted to try Boot Camp because it will run faster and hopefully work with Net Render.

Done the alterations to the animation and re-rendered it using Multi-Pass 4x4 - still got the flickers I will definately have to ask Hash HQ about this one. I rendered part of the animation on my iMac, only the last part. See if you can notice the Mac rendered bit (I'll give you a clue 'Spots'). I definately will not be using my Mac to do any more rendering… Spaceship Landing Again

Thanks for the replies everyone frosteternal Yes, I noticed that too. I have checked the f-curves of the camera and they seem fine. It is only when the camera id totally still that the fuzz stops. I have done a test uusing Multi-Pass at 4 X 4 (16 Passes) and that seems to reduce the fuzz but not totally. I am going to have to ask Hash Support on this one since this scene will be used quite alot in the film. I will try this later - hope it helps! nf1nk I agree. I have incorporated your suggestion. In fact the reason that the flick is a little too quite is because I have noticed an anomally when rendering out to a shaded mode QT movie which I use when previewing. It seemed to output everything at 15 fps rather than 30fps which I was expecting. So in the final render everything was a bit quick. New render coming later…

Finally, a working model from me!
gazzamataz replied to cribbidaj's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Not bad m8, not bad. You seem to have got the cloth working very nicely which is more that I can say for myself since I have only dabbled with cloth... The one thing that bugs me about the walk cycle is the foot slapping down as he takes a step - it looks a tad to fast and almost painful. -
Pretty gripping stuff there John, I haven't tried the latest version of 14 since I ain't got the CD. Does it take an awful lot longer to render when using SSS?
-
He has finally reached planet Bear? And being a brave soul decides to go exploring… However, the background seems to fuzz for the first three quarters of the flick but not the rest. I have a horrid feeling this is going to be a pain when going to final render. Ideas anyone? Do I need to use Multi-Pass on this one? Spaceship Landing

Nice Job m8! That's a nice image, makes me wanna start doing that sort of thing at my workplace…
-
Well I am chuffed and itching to press on Glad you all liked it and I agree with John about the Earth and the spaceship it needs a bit more work, but so do some other minor things. Any help in these departments appreciated from fellow hashers. I don't think I will spend any more time on this sequence just yet since I want to move on to the next section. I am now starting to see my vision actually materialising into my first ever Bella Bear film and it's getting exciting. Thanks for all the comments guys.

Flobbalobalob! Glad you liked it Paul and you Case. Guess I watched too much Bill and Ben as a Kid. Hope you liked the animation too though!
-
This is still a bit rough around the edges but I think the flow is just about right. So I thought I would post the opening sequence to my first ever Bella Bear short (the one that I am still working on and which I have already animated a section from the middle). Hope you lot like it, here's the link: Space Flight

If you are going for roughly anatomically correct then I would suggest the following: • The ears are too low, the tops of the ears should be roughly level with the tops of the eyes • The nose needs more definition, it goes straight down • The bottom lip looks a tad too flat and square looking, it need a little more work Apart from that it is a great first effort, I think you should post a side shot too.

Shaggy Takes A Stroll In The Real World
gazzamataz replied to Tralfaz's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Tralfaz I can only seem to download half of the flick… It does look good, bit like a slow motion home video with camera shake like in real life. I did notice one little thing though, Shaggy's hand twist un-naturally when he rises up. This might be IK popping or whatever it is called. Usually I find there is a rogue frame in the action where the bone flips out and back again which is fixed by adding a new key frame to bring the 'flipping' inline. -
I think he looks cool m8. He kinda reminds me of the evil droid/robot from that Disney film 'The Blackhole' from way back when (1979).
-
Excellent model and walk cycle m8. It would be great to see this beastie navigating some more uneven terrain to really get those legs working.

Nice job there Mr Atkinson. If you wanna talk resolution then 300dpi is ideal for magazines, books and things that you look at close up printed on litho or digital printers. 150 dpi is fine for inkjet printers on matt or glossy paper. I have always had arguments with people over resolution for posters. You can get away with a lot less since you will be looking at the item from a distance so you won't see any pixelation. Go up to a billboard and look at it close up - yuk pixelation. I would go as low as 60dpi, higher for exhibition work that you get closer too. Otherwise the higher the res and the bigger the image the more monsterous the file size... You all new that though didn't you

And get my pants sued off - I don't think so! Actually, if you look closely at my Avatar (Alfie - he's one of my Bella Bear characters) there is a resemblance. I done him in 2000. He got me first place in the Hash animation competition and hence 'Fellow' status so I owe him a lot
-
Do you know what? I invented this character long before Crazy Frog/The Annoying Thing ever came out... Same with Bella Bear and her world. I keep thinking people would draw parrallels with my concept and Shrek which didn't appear until 2001 (?). I had my first drawings and ideas in the late 90's... Oh well, guess I'll have to work faster Mind you nost of all this stuff has been done before in a different guise anyway
-
Footwork! You need some footwork there m8. Shoulder Work! I think you need them to bob left and right abit too. I think the fall is pretty cool and looking forward to seeing how you develop this little flick.
-
Well, I am hard at work on the next segment of my 'Bella Bear' Saga which involves the alien character. So I thought I would show him to you. He (it?) was originally modeled ages ago, but I have only just rigged and textured him - might have OD'ed on the spots... I thought I would try a bit of GI and Ambient Occlusion on him but it still looks a bit flat - not to good at that sort of stuff (yet). Anyway here he is, comments welcome and expected

Well I certainly enjoyed the Expo and didn't realise that I was so good at selling Many thanks to Ken for answering my question, the posters and the other goodies and Heath - for I am sure it was him who bought me a pint For those of you who couldn't make it here are the only photos I took, even if they are a bit fuzzy… [attachmentid=21863]
