  1. Nearly all new Power Macs (I image that's the way they'll stay) are dual processor these days so what is the point of dual core Macs? If they are going to stay dual processor and have an operating systems that support dual processor very well what is the point? Dual core chips are just as expensive as dual processors aren't they?
  2. What day is everyone thinking of going Thursday, Friday or Saturday? I can make any of these.
  3. OK who's going to visit Hash at the Mac show then? They could also be showing sneak previews of the new Intel based Macs... now that would another good reason to go
  4. Well, three months later I reply and I still ain't tried Wednesday Night Chat I have been busy working on me BBC Competition entry and that was all finished at the end of August. So I have been doing other fings (like lovely nufink). But now I am getting restlesss again. Isn't it about time that we had another meeting again? If it was in October then that would be celebrating the original get together we had same time last year. I'd like to see how everyone is getting on. Sam? You got tha Chocolate Factory available? Sam? Pequod? Steve? Paul? John? Any UK Hasher?
  5. Aggh yes, it was the July Issue... We are on September Issue now! You could ask the nice me Shaun Freeman for help, if not I suppose I could do something naughty which I am not going to metion here in case I get into trouble...
  6. Nixie You might want to learn those neat multi-fan bone techniques that Shaun Freeman wrote about in 3D World Magazine or his video on the Hash DVD. Well worth learning!
  7. Nixie That a nice peice of work there m8. Ken said about the crease in the leg there is also a bit os smartskining that needs doing on the left hand wrist it looks a bit puffed up. I think you made the right decision about putting a loin cloth on him he looks much better in it. The only thing that bothers me is his skin colour... he looks too Human for a goblin creature - but that's only my opinion. I would have made him a slighly darker shade or hue perhaps. I must have a look into this radiosity thingy myself and try rendering some of my own stuff in it. Looking forward to seein this chap animated
  8. Paul I have never tried this cos I always thought I would have to be up at silly hours in the morning talking the US Hashers… if you and Sam and others are there at non-silly hours then I would love to chat - now I gotta remember how to set it up… Can you remind me?
  9. Hmmm I don't think this one is gonna happen Stuart... I think it is mainly due to Parlo (aka Sam Bruntock) being unable to organise the venue as before. I think you will find that he cannot keep himself away from this: Coming Soon!
  10. I am sure I can make that date too!
  11. Wicked! - that would be nice to see you there Stuart. I know that Exeter is a long way from London though...
  12. Looks like only three of us so far... C'mon Keates, Pequod, Steven where are you lot hiding?
  13. Bloody Hell m8! That was a quick response... nice to hear from you again! Haven't seen a post from Parlo for ages. Oh, BTW, I don't like chocolate... more of a beer man myself
  14. What happened to the next meeting due in April guys? Is the LAMUG, GLAM, B:AM or whatever we called it defunct? It would be nice to catch up with you guys again at the Chocolate Factory for another little session
  15. Well, that's a very nice mouth, might be a touch sharp on the upper lip - although I am not sure about the nose. The nose looks a bit flat, I think that those nostrils need a little nore definition at the front/bottom and the end of the nose looks a little too boxy...
  16. Done a bit more to this flick - man animation is time consuming It still seems to be a bit wooden and I need to refine it even more, but I think its getting there - what do you lot think??? It's quite large (2.4mb so be warned). Doors Please note: This flick does contain a mild swear word
  17. Well I haven't done what you guys have suggested - yet I will add these things later. I just wanted to get the base lipsync and blockling out done first. So here is how far I have got so far. For some reason the lipsync don't look to good from the side although it does look OK when I did it looking directly at Bella Bear... I think I am gonna have to make those phoneme shapes much more pronounced, she looks more like she is mumbling... doors.zip
  18. Robcat Yeah I see what you mean Bella's head might seem a little stiff. I won't add touches like that just yet I want to block most of the animation out first, than go back and add refinements in a second sweep. I am doing the lipsyncing now for the dialogue which scared me to start (I haven't done it in a while) then absorbed me afterward FYI the animation is based on a scene from the film 'The Italian Job'. I'll let you wait for the dialogue to work out which bit
  19. Hi Hashers Having finished the third and final storyboard for Bella Bear I decided to do some animation with Bella & Hannah. For this I chose a famous scene from a famous film and decided to replace the characters with mine - bit like the 10 Second club. Anyway, here's what I have done so far - I look forward to any coments and criticsms (I wonder if you can guess what film the scene is from ) Doors_Flick.mov
  20. Thanx m8, but that's no sweater… that's Bear Fur
  21. Having finished me third BB storyboard, I decided to do some animation. I started by giving BB some eyebrows, reducing the sharpness on her cheeks and giving her a proper join on her neckline. What do you Hashers think? I have also notice an anomally under her right eye. There is a 5-point patch there and it normal is pointing in the right direction (as on the other side), but whereas it renders fine in model mode it doesn't when I drop it in a choreography with lights. I get that shadow artifact… I am using AM 11.1e on the PC.
  22. Well thankyou Paul, and yes I am still pluggin away at Bella Bear & Co. - I must admit sometimes it does seem to be all uphill but I am looking forward to what's on the other side, whatever that may be I know the leaves are sticking through the kite bt I had a few set backs today. I had Hannah waving her magic wand with particles attached and all it seemed to do was crash my scene (do you think her spell was pointed at me?). So I lost a little time and that's why me leave ain't riot. Anyway, I have only six shots left to do and that all three stories under me belt and time for animating - so watch this space!
  23. Hi Hashers Just thought I'd post another image from my third Bella Bear story just for fun... This shows you what happens when you go hang gliding on a kite without a licence I have nearly finished this third story (storyboard format) and once done I am anxious to start animating some of the scenes... that should be fun
  24. Well, when I finally got there (the London Underground had decided to do maintenance work right on the route I was trying to take) I met up with the rest of the BA:Mers in the pub, then off we went to the Chocolate Factory. Personally, I think it went better than the previous venue - and not just because I had discovered where the volume button was on the laptop We all strutted out stuff, except Pequod who was too cold, and it was great to see Steven there showing us all the interesting rigging systems using expressions that he has developed. I thought Johns animation around the picture gallery was highly amusing and started to wonder about my poor animation skills. But I must say it certainly recharged my batteries and has inspired me to press on and start doing some little animated sequences of me own to a much better level. I was sorry that Paul couldn't make it. I would have liked to see what he's been upto but I hope he's reading this little summary and Parlo said there will probably be another venue in March/April. By then I might have some animation to show that I am pleased with All in all a great event (well, I thought so anyway) and sorry I had to dash off so quickly but it was getting past my bedtime…
  25. Nope! Just looked, sorry I didn't get back earlier the internet connection in my area seems to have been down for hours
