Some years back, I had fun participating in the 10 Second Club’s contests (well, even was webmaster there for a period). I never won anything, but much better: learned a lot. Today I stumbled upon the small vids on Youtube, some of which were made in Animation Master. Certainly not masterpieces, but fun to watch again. Here are the A:M ones:

Hello ... Thought I would dust the cobwebs off this section of the forum and announce a new game. All of the game models were created in Animation Master and programmed using Pure Basic. It's a 3d style billiard game that is "5-games-in-one". Included are "Speed Demon" ... "Pock-it Golf" ... "Stripes & Solids" ... "Stonehenge" and "Pock-it Protector". You can view a video of the game in action from my website. I am offering a free demo version of the game that you can download a try out. The game is for Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8. You will need DirectX 9.0c installed on your system in order for the game to run (even if you have DirectX 10 or 11) unfortunately ... Of …

Some may have guest it, other may not: The entry with the chameleon on it was mine. If you are interested I want to show of a little about that fellow because it was a quite interesting workflow. I used A:M to create the model (and rig), gave it some basic materials, used BakeSurface from A:M and exported as an OBJ with a high polycount (I think 256 or 1024 subdivisions, I am not sure...), brought the model with the UV-set to 3dCoat v4. There I painted all the little dots, shades and the displacementmaps (bump is done using a procentual material in A:M), saved the textures and back in A:M I rendered it out... it worked very well and I could paint over seams …

Since I modeled the anteater to be a competitor to our mascot contest, and it was the winner, I want to share it with you, my friends... You can download it here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1009127.../mascot_v18.zip Feel free to use it any way you want. I spent a lot of time working on its texture and I didn't have time to set a rig... sorry. In another topic Rich ( Vertexspline ) asked me about the vegetation...they are an OBJ model as well as the rocks and I used the "BitMapPlus kci:dnd" plugin material to texture them. The lighting was done using AO+IBL ( HDRI ) and a sun light. Did you notice the ant asking for peace with a white flag ???

BIG thanks to whoever did the cartoony car and brownstone apartments. This animation was a 'quick build' with elements I had laying around... for a corporate 'ra-rah' video, used as a module to house the headshots, names and TERRIBLE videos of the corporate bigwhigs and supporting their 'MERGE LANES' theme. There will be 7 inset videos in all. MERGE_CUT_TEST.mov

As the light bounces off the walls it takes on the wall's color. OmniTestEH.mov A typical Cornell box image takes about an hour to render with radiosity, but this takes about 15 seconds per frame to render. This scene also has something in it that technically doesn't exist in A:M. Can anyone guess what it is? There are clues in the render.

You guys may have seen my recent post of the fan art model I did. I wanted to test out sculptris with Hash and how well the obj export from it would work in Hash's "Retopo/ snap to surface feature." Since I'm new to sculptris and 3D sculpting in general I was hoping to get the basic shape of Dirk the Daring's head fairly close. I knew that the spline modeling in A:M would work much lighter and smoother. However, I like the way sculptris allows me to get the overall shape. Attached is a video of the progression both in sculptris and then on into hash for conversion to a spline copy based on the obj. The body was all done in Hash. Model_Steps_Sculp…

Robcat has offered me a chance to do some learning. He has three courses to teach. I would very much like to have others join in on this class and if your interested please post here to become involved. Once we have enough I will defer control to Robcat who will be doing the teaching. The animation courses being offered are the following: 1 bouncing ball 2 broad jump 3 three emotions On a side note, Rob if no one is interested I am still very interested in learning what you have to offer.

some dance-animations i´ve made for the prolight&sound exhibition 2012 and 2013. i´m not tooo happy with the second one, since i´ve had only 4 days to animate, so there was no time for polishing. turns out animating a robot-dance is kinda tricky, who would have thought? BiHPOnIOy8c dosPLVOo9xk

As threatened. The second ever project in AM. This was the original version. It later got re animated and edited down to three days rather than five but, that version has some horrible compression artefacts on it and still has a large file size. This has been chopped a bit but ( WARNING ), the music is still as annoying as ever. There are many things I'd change if I did it now but I was pleased with it at the time. ( about 9-10 years ago). I still like the idea though. The figure models were adapted off the CD at that time. Rather inexpertly, as you can tell. simonLC_320.mov

This was the first project I did in AM. My nephew was trying to make a career as a racing driver and this was an attempt at raising some sponsorship. It was only intended as a fist pass at the idea and, if the company was interested, then we'd get the polished version done. It never got finished because, they were interested at first but, just as we started to look into it more, two of their marketing dept died with stress related problems so we got lost in the process. The nephew, Ben Clucas, then 17/18 now 29, is still working as a racing driver, albeit not on the plane initially hoped for. There are lots of clips of him on Youtube, including an amazing race a…

It has been a while since I made a complete micromovie. Let me say, doing a study of Alfred Hitchcock's directing through one of his masterpieces has been a great learning experience. I had a great time doing this project. I was determined to finish by year's end and I made it with a week to spare! Keeping true to the "One-Man-One-Computer" ethos, I used a number of the public models very much to the improvement the piece. Let me give special kudos to the builders of the "Rear Window" set. It is a wonderful miniverse. The set looks great from long shots to extreme close-ups. Bravo and thank you to the organizers and contributors to the 2012 Forum Project. …

here´s some stuff i´ve made lately with the help of a:m. 1. DDQ Series video: those are touring class PA speakers which i´ve designed two years ago. i did the layouts for those speakers with a:m (they looked a little different in the development stage, some things were too difficult to realilze in production). so the design for the speakers was made in a:m, the speakers you see in the video are real video-shots though. the only 3D footage besides the lines-stuff was the compression driver, i had to model it in a:m, because the prototype we filmed didn´t have the right driver built in the animation was made in after effects, the lines with a plug-in called plexus. …

I'm working with a rock being struck by lightening. Have got the lightening to look the way I want it to but, would like to make the rock heat up as a result of the strike, with the colour spreading down from the point of impact Initially I had thought to do it using a diffuse colour change animated through different layers but that started to look like a Doctor Who scarf made out of stone, with colour bands. Can anyone kindly suggest a method that might work ? I wondered about animated maps perhaps ? regards simon This is Ray on his rock.

Hello- I apologize if this has been answered before but I did a search for "3d printing" and ".STL" in the AM forums search and it came up blank...so here goes: When exporting an .STL file with AM17, does the mesh need to be continuous to be recognized by the printer?...or can there be multiple models intersecting each other, without there being one unified mesh? (see picture)... In this simplistic picture there is a sphere (figure A) with some of the points pulled out..and then there is a sphere (figure with a cylinder intersecting. Are both of these models "legal" to the 3D printer? Will both models "print out" accurately? Thanks for any insigh…

Hey guys, sorry if the topic description made it sound like a 'marijuana reference'... I use patch images a lot, they RULE! And lately I have been playing with eXporting A:M data so I can use it in Element 3D, Cinema 4D (Maybe I AM stoned!) and trying to get A:M/bake imagery to play nice with polygonal UVW placements(making slit-wrist motions!) and I notice that patch images seem to be 'immune' to the whole baking process. ALSO- any links to some good tuts on this subject?

Have had difficulties with mystery channels appearing in the PWS ( I hope I'm using the right word with channels ? ) and the rotate handles on bones suddenly growing very large but never known what might be the cause. Yesterday morning, I went through all the models in the chor and deleted the oddities then worked on the walk of one of the figures, having hid the other models. In the evening I unhid the others and prepared to render it out, only to find that the mystery channels had reappeared, along with the elongated roll handles. I've circled both in this screen grab. The problem seemed to come about when the models were group selected in the PWS…

Have been having a number of quirky problems recently with the display of models in the chor. This is the latest one. As you can see in the picture, the model is active in the properties section, but in the view window only the bounding box shows up, not the actual wireframe of the model. If a partial quick render is done of the same view port, the models show in the render, while still being invisible in the view !!! It only seems to happen in this chor, the 4th, the others seem ok. Is there an easy explanation I might be missing? Any help gratefully received. regards simon Ps It had seemed resolved but, still getting problems with wavy splines o…

I've spent some time getting the fourth shot of the current short animated. At the beginning I constrained the flowers o the hand of the male character and that held all the way through. I was just going through and setting the pose sliders for the facial features when I noticed that the flowers were no longer constrained to the hand. Checked the settings under properties but they hadn't changed, but the flowers were no longer in the hand. One anomaly I have noticed is that a W value seems to have crept in to the rotate properties ? Not noticed that before? X, Y, Z I now start to understand but W ? Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, how did you fix it ?…

I kind of missed the deadline here, but I didn't get back to my computer before the end of the Christmas holiday visiting my parents. So this ugly thing has been decorating my grandma's Christmas tree for the past 25 years. I drew this thing when I was five years old. I bet that if it could talk it would probably whisper something in the lines of "please kill me...." Anyway, just for the fun of it I had it scanned, made a simple model for it in A:M and added the decal. Also added a simple rig and made it move for a few seconds. It would be fun to collect all sorts of children's Christmas drawing and make an small animation out of it, guess I have to search my parents …
